Lower ABV Domaine du Salvard has been a working domaine since 1898, through five hardworking generations of the Delaille family. We know them best for their "Unique" Sauvignon Blanc and lovely Sauvignon/Chardonnay Cheverny Blanc. And now through their Pinot Noir "Unique" (which actually has
a little Gamay blended in as well). If you've ever had Burgundy's Passetoutgrain, you'll know what to expect here in a wine serving up crunchy red cherry and black raspberry fruit with hints of earth, spice and more. Gamay gives this more guts and sappiness than normal for inexpensive Pinot Noir, and both grapes work together to deliver a crisp, fresh, finish. Plenty of flavor, body and fun at just 12.0% alcohol. Terrific picnic/bistro red!
For You If: You're looking for a wine with plenty of fruit that's not "fruity" and will go well with all kinds of food and solo-sipping occasions; you enjoy Beaujolais - this has a bit of that character.
Not For You If: You're looking for Pinot Noir full of the rich, ripe, fruit you find on America's West Coast - this has plenty of fruit, but it's more crunchy/fresh.
