Organic/Bio Before phylloxera, Prunelart was the dominant grape of Gaillac, giving plump, plum and berry-fruited, wines with loads of character and fine, food-friendly, structure. Thought to be extinct, old vines were rediscovered in the 1990s and it’s making a comeback although still very rare as a varietal bottling. Here it’s a delight, bursting with black and purple fruit, feeling lush, finishing with just a touch of grip. Like dry Lambrusco without bubbles or Beaujolais with more body. A wine you just want to drink and then open another bottle of. Joy. Organic farming, minimal winery intervention and very low sulfur additions, so a “good natural wine” as well!
For You If: We’re tempted to say that this is like Barney the purple dinosaur was a wine, plump, soft, cheerful, making (grown up) children feel loved and joyful, so if that appeals, this is your wine.
Not For You If: You’re looking for something “serious” – this is pure joy.
