Organic/Bio Lower ABV A delicious take on Loire Valley Cabernet Franc, grown and made seriously to delivery serious amounts of fun. The wines of Bourgueil are darker and more gutsy and Chinon or St. Nocolas Bourgueil, but also less famous and much better value. This is from one of Bourgueil's finest vineyards, the Grand Mont on slopes above the river with thick tuffeau soils. In 2020, the 50 year-old vines deliver espeically ripe black cherry fruit with Cabernet Franc's signature tobacco, herb and spice flavors a gentle complement. Finishes with fine, food friendly, tannins perfect for roast chicken, lentil salad, or pretty much any bistro fare. Highly recommended.
For You If: You've enjoyed Bruno Dufeu Borgueil Grand Mont in the past - this is that wine with a new label reflecting a change in ownership of the winery; you're in the market for a solid bistro red that has more than enough fruit to balance the savory herb and spice accents.
Not For You If: You're after the super-rich fruit and supple texture of Virginia or California Cab Franc - this is noticably less ripe and more refreshing.
