Organic/Bio From 80 year-old Grenache vines in the Rhone, fortified to keep some sugar, and aged in concrete. The wild strawberry, macerated cherry and blackberry fruit picks up a hint of bitter chocolate in the middle. It feels juicy and fresh mid-palate with ripe fruit-levels of sweetness and a lovely dryness at the end. Server around 50 degrees with blue cheeses, dark chocolate and/or blackberry desserts.
For You If: You’re looking for something to serve with salty cheese or not-to-sweet desserts that is fresher and more drinkable than Ruby or vintage-style Port.
Not For You If: You’re a sugar-hunter – this has plenty of that, but it’s more “a wine with some sweetness” than “sugar flavored with wine.”
