Organic/Bio Lower ABV No way you try this blind and guess it sells for <$20. Because it shouldn’t and only does because importer Lia Banville-Tolaini owns the vineyard and winery and uses it to craft this “door opening” Chianti value. It’s 90% Sangiovese (tank) and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon (aged in oak) from Chianti Classico’s famous Castelnuovo Berardenga region. Ripe red berry fruit, spice, a bit of cedar and more flow over fine, firm, food-friendly tannins. A huge value for the quality and style.

For You If: You need a great all-purpose pizza/pasta/burger red; you like Chianti but want a value to drink tonight vs cellar for a while; a pinch of acidity and chew of tannin that melt away like the cheese on your lasagna sound good.

Not For You If: You’re looking for “smooth” – this is boisterous and firm. You want to taste Chianti Classico’s traditional oak aging and leather notes; you want something big (this is just 13.0% alcohol, but is hardly light!).
