Lower ABV From their vines at the west end of the Chehalem Mountains, Elk Cove creates Pinot Gris that reachest towards white Burgundy levels of complexity. There's plenty of ripe pear and stone fruit on the nose and palate, but also a toasted, leesy, almond and beesewax note. Rich and deep on the palate but still very fresh, with browned apricot and peach, candied ginger and toasted almond flavors and coat your mouth and linger nicely. Pretty wild stuff!
For You If: You're looking for a wine that's practically a sauce in terms of complexity to pair with a simple poached or grilled fish; you enjoy the non-fruit flavors of wines like Loire Valley Chenin - this doesn't taste like that, but it's in that genre; you want a different taste in every sip.
Not For You If: You're hoping for an Oregon interpretation of either Pinot Grigio or Alsace Pinot Gris - this is doing something different.
