Federico Graziani comes at Etna wine from the perspective of a taster. At age 15 he took his first wine tasting course and in 1998, at age 23, he was crowned Italy’s top sommelier. He came to Etna in 2008 and now has 6HA of vines on the north slope. This is his pure, no-oak, take on Nerello. As Suckling says in the 92 point review, “Aromas of spiced plums, dried herbs and red cherries. Medium-bodied with silky tannins. Juicy and bright on the palate, with a pleasantly tight finish.”
For You If: You like your Etna reds to feel pure and clear while also serving up savory, earthy, character.
Not For You If: You don’t enjoy savory/earthy notes – this is hardly funky, but you can definitely taste the non-fruit character.
