A big, rich, well-oaked, Tempranillo that’s ready to drink with all kinds of savory food off the grill. The wine is from Zamora, near the Portuguese border, and it shows off plenty of Tempranillo color and richness with enough acidity to balance the fruit and wood. Black berries, sandalwood, spice, vanilla and smoke are the flavors, delivered with some silk in the middle and a pleasing grip on the toasty finish.
For You If: You enjoy the savory, spicy, vanilla-scented, flavors of traditional Spanish Tempranillo; you’re looking for the perfect match to grilled/smoked ribs that have some cocoa powder in the rub.
Not For You If: You’re looking for Tempranillo’s softer, fruitier, side; you dislike the flavor of oak.
