Lower ABV Soave was the first Italian white to conquer the US market, long before Pinot Grigio was a thing. Today these Veneto delights are less trendy so they can be HUGE values. Like here. This is pretty much the essence of the Garganega grape with pretty scents and flavors of crisp peach, freshly zested lemon and a hint of almond/almond blossom. It’s a crisp, zippy, summery white that’s just as much fun to sip on cool evenings year ‘round.
For You If: You’re looking for a white full of zesty flavor that stays light – just 12% alcohol – and fresh; you enjoy lemony citrus flavors; you’re looking for a lovely match for salads and simply cooked fish; you’re breaking out of a Pinot Grigio rut.
Not For You If: You’re after a white with heavier body and more dense texture; you prefer whites with oaky flavors; you don’t like lemony citrus flavors – quite pronounced here!
