Organic/Bio Confession: we didn't know where Perigord was either. It's southeast of Bordeaux, covering the Dordogne and western part of the Lot departments, so let's call it southwest France. Bergerac and Monbazillac are the most famous wine appellations although it's best known in France for black truffles. Which this blend of Merlot and Cabernet done all in concrete would certainly taste great with!
It’s country wine par excellence, pumping out big and juicy currant and black plum fruit supported by chalky, grippy, tannins. Although a Bordeaux blend, it makes us think of bold Dolcetto as much as anything else. This will be killer with truffled salami and cheese – put that cheese on a burger and your eyes will roll back in your head as you drink this.
For You If: You like "bistro" or "country" wine - bottles that glug out joyful refreshment that pair with all kinds of food and stimulate conversation about life more than about wine.
Not For You If: You're going to get all analytical and tasting note writing about it - this is really just "shut up and drink it" juice.
