Tempranillo can do lots of things and here it’s all about easy drinking summer fun. Picked fully ripe and done all in concrete, it’s brimming with bright cherry and juicy cranberry fruit but avoids “fruitiness” with a burst of Tempranillo’s signature savory tobacco, leather and sandalwood notes at the end. A bit of cherry pit bite keeps things fresh over the very soft and easy tannins. A great party and cookout red.
For You If: You’re looking for something with enough fruit to please a crowd that steers clear of being “fruity;” something both fresh and substantial appeals.
Not For You If: You’re after the oak spice, vanilla and dill of traditional Rioja – no oak here, so it’s all about the Tempranillo grape.
