Organic/Bio How to get you to try this? “The most joyfully delicious Primitivo we’ve ever tried” falls short. And “Like JP Brun Beaujolais except from Puglia Primitivo” is a bit obscure. Let’s try this: imagine a double handful of late-season, super juicy, blackberries and black cherries with hints of chili pepper, rosemary, sage and blood orange and super-fine tannins that keep the whole thing fresh and appetizing. Toss it in the fridge for 30 minutes and drink from tumblers. If you do that while thinking about what you’d expect from Primitivo or any wine from the super-hot vineyards of Puglia (the toe of Italy’s boot), I 100% guarantee you’ll smile if not laugh out loud for the sheer joyful ridiculousness of it. “Wanting to fly” is the wine’s name. What more is there to say?
For You If: You read “like Beaujolais for Italy” and your mouth starts to water; you love wines with lots of fruit but that don’t show as sweet or simple; you know what “Glou Glou” means and that’s what you want – fyi, it means “glug glug” in French for the sound of wine being poured fast from a bottle and being swallowed in big gulps because you just can’t resist!
Not For You If: You’ve heard that Primitivo is related to California’s Zinfandel and are hoping to taste something that could have come from Dry Creek or Napa; you actually like most Primitivo wines you’ve tried and want more of the same – this is very much not that.
