Like Howell Mt. across the valley, Mt. Veeder gives Cabernet with plenty of intense tannic structure and power if more pinpoint and precise in feel. Some extra time in bottle has this showing beautifully already, although it will sing on for years. Outstanding.
“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder comes from the Amentet Vineyard and is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Its deep purple/blue color is followed by a powerful, structured wine that gives up beautiful black and blue fruits, notes of graphite, crushed rock, lavender, and tobacco, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated mouthfeel, and a great finish. This beautiful mountain Cabernet needs 4-5 years of bottle age but should keep for 20-25+ years.”
“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Amentet Vineyard is a heady, explosive Mount Veeder wine. Iron, sweet red cherry, mint, dried flowers, licorice, mocha and rose petal all grace this wonderfully expressive, nuanced Cabernet. Best of all, the 2018 won't need more than a few years in bottle to be approachable. It's a gorgeous wine, that much is clear. The best is yet to come.”
“A perfumed nose of blackberries, plums, dried thyme, sandalwood and cloves. Full body with ripe, polished tannins. Rich and smooth with a deep core of dark fruit. Dark-chocolate and walnut notes on the delicious finish."
