Organic/Bio As Vinous says, “When I think of what St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon should be, I often think of Spottswoode. The wines are simply classic.” Lyndenhurst is the estate’s “drink now” cuvee (and half the price of the estate wine). More elegant and supple than most prestige Napa Cabs, its currant, blueberry and dark cherry fruit flows and cedar/spice accents flow effortlessly through a long, earthy, finish. Compelling.
For You If: You’re after the polish and sophistication of one of Napa’s elite estates in a ready to enjoy tonight format; you enjoy the flavors and textures of classic Napa Cabernet but are looking to sidestep aggressive tannins and oak flavors.
Not For You If: You want your Napa Cab to be super plush or intensely tannic – this has plenty of body, texture and grip, but takes all of that easy so the flavors can shine through.
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lyndenhurst is composed of 77.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9.4% Cabernet Franc, 4.1% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot and 3.8% Malbec. Deep garnet-purple in color, it skips out of the glass with lively blueberries, redcurrants and kirsch scents, plus hints of cedar chest, fragrant earth and rose hip tea. Medium-bodied, elegant and lively in the mouth, the palate is chock-full of bright and crunchy red and black fruits, finishing long and earthy.”
