While the label is less colorful than in past years, the wine is even more seriously good. Pretty much the essence of Walla Walla Syrah here with deep fruit, loads of savory complexity, and a finish that won't quit. It's magic!
"Beautiful dark berry fruits, peppery herbs, game, graphite, and violet notes all emerge from the 2019 Syrah Levitation Reserve, a Saint-Joseph-like Syrah that's medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and elegant. I love its tannins, and the purity of fruit is top notch. Drink it over the coming decade. This wine is 100% Syrah that saw 52% stems and 16 months in a mix of concrete and 20% new French oak puncheons."
"This seriously good 2019 edition of Syrah Levitation comes mainly from the Les Collines vineyard (67%) in the Walla Walla Valley, and the remainder from the Lewis vineyard. Stony and herbal undercurrents greet you aromatically, alongside crème de violette and shades of creosote. The palate is full-boded, showing plenty of flavor density despite the coolness of the vintage. Ripe dark fruits combine with tar, black licorice and baking spices, underpinned by sagebrush. Enjoy this beautiful wine over the next 8-10 years."
