Organic/Bio Lower ABV When Marc de Grazia began purchasing old vineyards on Mt Etna, he quickly discovered that old-school farmers always includes about 3-7% white grapes in the field. In 2005, he picked all the white grapes before the reds and made this wine - and it turned out to be terrific! Today it's those grapes plus younger vines from sites he's planted to white wine himself. Vinous describes the 2023 well in their 92 point review, "Honeyed florals, candied ginger, hints of fennel and crushed green apples form a spicy and inviting bouquet as the 2023 Etna Bianco opens in the glass. This plays depths of ripe orchard fruit against a core of salty minerals and savory spices as a wave of stimulating acidity completely resets the palate. The 2023 tapers off perfumed and long, leaving a pleasantly sour tinge of citrus that puckers the cheeks."
For You If: You're looking for a white that exudes volcanic character, including explosive flavors and aromatics and a wild, almost smoky, complexity.
Not For You If: You're after "smooth" - this has a wonderful mineral grip that squeezes your palate a bit and elevates and sustains the long, fruit-filled, finish.
