The only problem with farming old, old, vines - sometimes, they give up the ghost. So across the 20+ vineyards Larry Turley works with, a few younger vines can be found scattered here and there. Once they reach six-years of age and until they crest 25 years, Turley picks and vinifies them separately and then blends the best to make his young-vine wine, Juveniles. In all, up to 18 different vineyards contribute to Juvenile including some of the very best: Hayne, Ueberroth, Pesenti, Salvador, Vineyard 101, Fredericks and Kirschenmann. The result is a wine with enough juicy freshensss to balance the plush texture and big, ripe, fruit. As Vinous said of last year's release, "sure to be a crowd pleaser."
