From one of the cooler sites in Paso comes this always elegant but, in 2022, plenty powerful Zin. The vineyard is owned by Turley winemaker Tegan Passalacqua, so you know it gets a little extra love in the cellar. The ungrafted vines were planted in 1915 and the sandy soils and cool breezes of the Mokelumne River area lend freshness and balance. A bit richer in 2022 than usual, and very drinkable.
For You If: You like the flavors of full-throttle Zinfandel but want a touch more elegance and lift on the finish.
Not For You If: You're after Zin that really pounds your palate into submission - this is a touch more finessed than that if still a big wine.
"The 2022 Zinfandel Kirschenmann Vineyard screams with varietal character. Sweet red cherry fruit, Kirsch, cedar, new leather and pipe tobacco are nicely lifted in this mid-weight, textured Zinfandel. The 2022 has a bit more richness and mid-palate resonance than has been the norm."
