Too much Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is too ambitious, with oak and winemaking getting in the way of the wine's dark cherry fruit and natural cocoa powder charm. Not here! As Suckling says in the 92 point review, it's "A vivid, bright and textured red, showing aromas of dark cherries, blueberries and mild spices. It’s medium-bodied with finely grained tannins. Juicy crushed-berry character at the center with a delicious stream of sour cherries and a flavorful finish with excellent length." Yum.
For You If: First and formost, you like the taste of the Montepulciano grape unencombered by over-ripeness or oak; you're looking for a great party and cookout red that will please a crowd and do well with sliders, grilled chicken, roasted mushrooms, etc.
Not For You If: You're looking for something with a lot of density or oak - this is plenty dark in character but runs fresher than tha.
