At once rich and juicy, this is a terrifically drinkable Russian River Chardonnay with a definite luxury feel. Barrel fermented and aged (33% new oak), it delivers intense peach, apricot and tropical fruit aromas and flavors with a burst of citrus marmalade, vanilla and cardamom pod and a nice lemon, hazelnut and toast grace note on the easy finish. For solo sipping, roasted birds, lobster, etc.
For You If: You enjoy really well done California Chardonnay proud of its roots and not afraid to show the kind of fruit and richness sunny days and cool nights can deliver.
Not For You If: You’re after a lot of minerality or bite – this is nicely smooth; you don’t like the flavor of oak in your Chardonnay – it’s well done here and an asset but present.
