This isn’t fancy pants Rioja, but one whiff and you’ll be glad you took it home. Fragrant red fruit with a piercing freshness is consistent throughout your sipping journey. Not too big and not too lean, this sits right in the middle with a tannin structure that is borderline silky/slightly chewy. Pair braised beef dishes with it and that tannin will sing with joy! As Wine Spectator says in the 90 point review, "A fragrant red, revealing overtones of milled pepper, dried dill and flowers, with a pleasing juiciness to the sun-dried cherry and raspberry fruit. Medium-bodied, with lightly chewy tannins and accents of mocha, licorice, smoke and graphite on the finish.
For You If: You like Rioja with a less woody aroma- You’ve enjoyed California red blends and want to try something different.
Not For You If: You enjoy lighter reds like Pinot Noir, this does have a bigger plush mouthfeel- You want a Rioja to knock the socks off your friends, this is more of an everyday style of Rioja.
