Once again, about as terrific as Dolcetto gets and a bargain to boot. It's just delicious, loaded with blackberry, black cherry, plum, licorice and earthy spice aromas and flavors. Uncommonly smooth for this sometimes chewy grape, the finish is long and complex with licorice, fresh violets and dark fruit flavors picking up a hint of graphite at the end. As Wine Spectator says, "High-pitched and floral, this red delivers cherry, raspberry and peony flavors, all aligned to a supple texture. There are light tannins underneath, yet overall this is elegant and well-proportioned. Peppery finish."
For You If: You're in the mood for a black-fruited, easy-drinking, all-purpose red to enjoy with casual food or all by itself.
Not For You If: You're after somthing "bold" or "gutsy" - this has plenty of volume, but rides across your palate like silk.
