Essentially “baby Barbaresco” here from 20 year-old vines in Bricco di Neive cru and pulled from Barbaresco casks to deliver a fresher, earlier-drinking, Nebbiolo. As Vinous says in the 91 point review, it’s “a delight. Deep, layered and dynamic, the 2023 is terrific. It possesses notable character and tons of style. Crushed flowers, bright red berry fruit, mint and a kick of orange peel all run through this finely-cut, chiseled Langhe Nebbiolo.” Delicious now and likes a decant, but it’s not essential.
For You If: You love the aromas and flavors of Nebbiolo and don’t want to wait (or pay for) Barolo or Barbaresco to be ready to drink.
Not For You If: You’re looking for “smooth” – this has Nebbiolo’s characteristic bright acidity and firm tannin, both giving an attractive grip to this lovely, nicely fruit-driven, wine.
