Organic/Bio Lower ABV On the “left bank” of Chablis, Cote de Lechet benefits from steep slopes (up to 38%), plenty of Kimmeridgian marl, excellent drainage and ample sunshine. Even in warmer harvests, the poor soils tend to give wines of lovely cut, minerality and vigor. The 40-50 year-old vines planted by Angele’s grandfather have dug deep into the chalk to tap water supplies that keep the wine even fresher and more vigorous than you’d expect for Lechet. The blend of flavor intensity and clear-as-a-bell mouthfeel are compelling and while you can certainly hold this for another 6+ years there’s no need to wait.
For You If: You’re looking for the perfect match for fresh seafood of all kinds; you want a no-oak white that has good density but still feels light and fresh; you’ve got a hankering for delicious Chablis tonight.
Not For You If: You’re after Chardonnay shaped by oak or that’s bursting with juicy fruit – this is more steely, mineral, and dry and has no oak at all.
"The hallmark lemon rind character of a fine Côte de Léchet is certainly noticeable on the agreeably fresh aromas of mineral reduction and oyster shell. There is both fine richness and punch to the caressing and slightly denser flavors that culminate in a clean, dry and moderately dry finale. This is a wine that could easily be enjoyed young or aged over the mid-term to good effect."
