The Southern Rhone's most famous sweet wine comes from hills looking down at the vines south of Chateaueneuf du Pape. Muscat is picked in multiple passes to bring in fruit perfectly balanced in sugar and acidity, allowed to ferment about half-way dry and then stabilized by the addition of grape spirits. Fenouillet's Muscat always delivers the perfect balance of richness and freshness with honeyed apricot, pineapple and candied orange fruit and a long, mellow, finish. A terrific pairing for fruit-based desserts or even creme brulee.
