Organic/Bio This must have been quite a mouthful when young, because with five years in bottle, there’s still noticeable grip and energy here! From limestone soils in one of the highest altitude vineyards in Provence, this is mostly Syrah with a dollop of Grenache and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon done in large cask, cement and tank. Dark Morello cherry and black plum fruit shows on the nose with accents of violets, graphite, licorice root and dried herb. The wine feels poised and focused, with dark fruit and warm stone flavors lingering over the firm, but not astringent, finish. This will be delicious with pretty much anything you’d normally drink Syrah with, but especially good with grilled and roasted meats or sausages.
For You If: You enjoy the flavors of Southern Rhone reds and want that with more minerality, spice and structure.
Not For You If: You're looking for "smooth" - this is really textured right through the long, firm, finish.
