Lower ABV You are in for a treat if you enjoy riper Pinot Noirs. This Alsatian version of the grape brings some serious concentration of fruit and flavor. Emile Beyer has had 14 generations of hands and minds that have worked the vineyards and crafted the wine. This generation is currently being guided by the astute winemaker, Christian Beyer. He has kept to the tradition of the estate and town of Eguisheim, the birth place of Alsatian wine production.
The wine itself is really a testament of generational knowledge with definitive varietal aromas of cherry and earth at its core. The aroma develops slowly in the glass and shows fresh raspberries and violets with a hint of cooking spice. The palate delivers concentration of fruit without the heaviness of a full body. The backbone is silky and delicate and finishes with liveliness. A great Pinot for a slight chill (50-52) and served with rotisserie chicken or, if you are feeling fancy, some braised rabbit with spring vegetables.
For You If: You enjoy riper Pinot Noirs that show dark cherry and raspberry notes; you enjoy volcanic soil Pinot Noir
Not For you If: You enjoy sour cherry and fresh Pinot Noirs that show strong earthy notes; you enjoy bolder wines that have very present tannins like Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah
