In the far north of the Cote de Nuits, Fixin can be a bit robust and rustic. Here Seguin draws from 40-50 year-old vines and smooths and rounds out the wine with 12 months in oak (25% new). Incisive aromas of wild cherry and tart raspberry have a floral edge that continues to show on the juicy, almost racy, palate. There's plenty of grip in this black-fruited wine that softens nicely with air and rich food. A terrific match for rich stews and braised meats.
For You If: You like your Pinot Noir both black-fruited ripe and youthfully sharply structured; you've got a little paitence - this will fully open in 2025-2026.
Not For You If: You're looking for something easy-drinking and mellow - this isn't hard-edged at all, but does have plenty of sharp, fresh, grip.
