Always a darker, richer, Pinot than you'd expect from Chassagne, the touch of extra freshness from 2021's cooler growing season makes this even harder to resist than usual. Black and red cherry fruit serve as the wine's core with an attractive top note of sweet spice and base note of crushed limestone and gravel add complexity and depth. The tannins are ripe and nicely grippy, propelling a long, black cherry and earth finish. Delicious now - 2030+.
For You If: You're looking for Pinot Noir to enjoy with roast chicken, especially with slices of black truffle pushed up under the skin; you'd like some of the dark earthiness of Cote de Nuits Pinot with a more open, immediately delicious, feel.
Not For You If: You're looking for the sweet/fleshy fruit of New World Pinot or the kind of tart astringency you might expect from Chassagne rouge - this splits the difference nicely.
