Organic/Bio As Wine Advocate said last year, “Giuseppe Russo makes some of the best wines on Etna. Full stop.” This is his more powerful and sleek San Lorenzo bottling, at 330 cases, his biggest single Contrada wine. Old vines (70-100 years) plus high-altitude (up to 750 meters) creates the perfect marriage of concentrated intensity and vivid purity. Wild blackberry and blueberry fruit and a silky, minerally, finish keep you coming back for more. As Wine Advocate said of the 2020, “Maybe the most classic interpretation of an Etna wine you will find."
For You If: You’re after Burgundy purity and finesse with a bit of mountain wine wildness and Italian intensity.
Not For You If: You’re feeling really impatient – this needs an hour of air to unfold tonight and will be best from 2026.
"Classy and perfumed, this stands out with pretty aromas of spiced plums, nutmeg and white pepper following through to a medium body. It has a polished texture, creamy tannins and a bright, fresh finish."
