At the western edge of the St Aubin hills, Pucelles is too flat to be 1er Cru but has a perfect S/SW exposure to generate plenty of ripeness. In 2022, this his has the vibrancy and lightness needed to balance very ripe flavors of stone fruits, yellow apples and sweet hazelnut with a just-right kiss of cultured butter. Open enough to drink on its own, it will shine more brightly still with shrimp or scallops or even just a nice piece of grilled chicken.
For You If: You're looking for classic Burgundy Chardonnay flavors that flow easily and gently across your palate with a perfect blend of richness and vibrant minerality.
Not For You If: You're after California richness or a lot of overt oak - this is more subtle if no less deliciously impressive!
"Alluring aromas of nectarine, lemon peel, and green apple grace the initial attack of this delicious wine. The texture is racy and elegant, with light body and crisp acidity, yet enough substance to give the wine great finesse. The grapes are grown at 430 metres in compact soils with plenty of clay deep in the combe on the way to La Rochepot. This intense, dynamic village-level wine should open soon after release."
