Perhaps our favorite dry Riesling in the shop today from Austria's greatest Riesling site: a stony basalt ridge first called "Hellenstein" ("hell stone") because of its rocky soil and the way the sun "burns like hell" during the summer. The combination produces truly profound Riesling. Terrific purity and drive to the lime and cracked slate aromas and flavors that finish very long and very intense. Great stuff.
For You If: You enjoy dry Riesling with lots of fruit AND lots of minerality AND lots of texture - this brings all three.
Not For You If: You're after Riesling that's either sweet/off-dry or austere and biting - this rides the middle of that path.
"This is an engaging mix of nectarine, ripe citrus and kiwi flavors that are full of tarragon cream and dried sage hints. Complex and layered, it feature some white-chocolate notes that linger on the spicy finish. Drink now through 2032."
