Organic/Bio Only from Etna do you get this captivating combination of smoky volcanic rock and crunchy-ripe strawberry/sweet cherry fruit with mouthcoating tannins that give shape and elevate the flavors without drying you out at all. Massimiliano Calabretta is as close to a “natural winemaker” as we’ve found on Etna so far, with organic farming and minimal cellar work and loads of respect from these ancient vines in the Feudo di Mezzo Cru. The balance of intensity, freshness and drinkability takes your breath away. Ready to enjoy right now and through 2035+.
For You If: You’re after the flavor intensity of Barolo and/or Brunello in a wine the flows more easily and delivers a more smoky/earthy edge; you’re grilling lamb coated in herbs and garlic – this will be brilliant with that!
Not For You If: You’re after the more intense tannic grip of Barolo and/or feeling of “bigness” of Brunello – this has plenty of tannin and size, for sure, but is easier to drink than either Barolo or Brunello.
