Lower ABV Not everything in Burgundy has to be serious, ambitious or expensive. Here Chardonnay from who knows where is picked by machine, fermented in tank, has a splash rest in oak and then gets bottled and shipped, zip, bang, boom. Who cares! The wine is really tasty with 2022 ripeness to the apple and nectarine fruit and a smear of butter toasted hazelnuts on the dry, lightly chalked, finish. Cocktail white Burgundy and for food, too. Excellent value.
For You If: You’re after a tasty glass of Chardonnay with some Burgundy character, freshness, and no overt wood flavors.
Not For You If: You’re looking for California levels of fruit; can’t stand the taste of (even tangy French) butter in your Chardonnay; want a wine with charming story and pedigree – this is not that!
