This wine is always about the fruit first, serving up bold black cherry and acai berry aromas and flavors with hints of violets, dried herb, and granite dust. The tannins come up on the back to create tension and make your mouth water nicely. As James Suckling said a few years ago, "This wine is way more than you expect from basic Beaujolais." Certainly a terrific Thanksgiving wine!
For You If: You're looking for an authentic and crowd-pleasing wine that does the food-friendly work of Pinot Noir in a more boisterious, juicy, style.
Not For You If: You're looking for something thick/rich or serious - this is wonderfully balanced with excelent texture, structure and minerality, but it's still light, fresh and all about the fun.
