You wouldn’t think just 5% Cabernet Franc would have much influence on a California Cab, but you’ll have no trouble detecting the way it gives lift and herby complexity to this rich red from Red Hills in Lake County. The fruit is super-ripe and deep, with blackberry and blueberry pie flavors filling your mouth and accented by notes of wild herb and summer violets. Finishes soft, round and velvety, so you can sip it solo or pair it up with food.
For You If: You’re after a Cab with loads of richness and texture but not so much alcohol – this is just 13.8%.
Not For You If: You’re looking for something sleek or heavily oaked – this is plush/round in feel and the wood is just enough to give shape and spice.
