Another fine vintage for this always wildly over-performing, huge value, oak-aged Rioja Crianza. As always, it's a blend of 90% Temparnillo and 10% Graciano aged 12 months in used American oak casks. More ripe, dark, juicy, black fruit than in the past makes for an even more enjoyable contrast to the spice, herb and smoke flavors coming from the barrels. Finishes with silky tannins and touch of citric lift under the generous dark fruit. Excellent value in highly drinkable, old-school, Rioja.
For You If: You like the dark/tart fruit, fresh acids, and oaky spice of classic "old school" Rioja - this delivers that at a bargain price.
Not For You If: You're looking for lush/rich fruit and/or don't like the aromas and flavors of American oak - that's what this wine is about.
