Lower ABV Sometimes a wine built for fun turns into a bit more than that. Nicolas Lassagne created this 50/50 Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon, no-oak, blend to have a fruity, refreshing, option for summer sipping. Sauvignon gives juicy citrus and stone fruit while Semillon provides body and texture…and then sneaks in some complex lanolin/wet wool and spice notes you’d normally only fine in more expensive, oak aged, white Bordeaux. Price and style make this a fine porch/couch/pool-side sipper, but bring it to table with seared tuna, citrusy salads, etc.and you’ll be impressed with the poise and depth here.
For You If: “Fruity but dry” sounds good and you enjoy white peach and pink grapefruit/orange citrus aromas and flavors; you want some thing light (only 12.5% abv) but not thin; you want to know why wine geeks keep talking about “wet wool” in Semillon-based wines.
Not For You If: You prefer austere/mineral/salty whites (this is more than “just fruit,” but there’s a LOT of fruit); you don’t like citrusy wines; you crave more full-bodied wines and/or a bit of oak.
