Organic/Bio In a few weeks from this writing, I’ll have dinner with winemaker Lou Rochet and get her to explain the details here. For now we know that this is about equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot with a dollop of Petit Verdot and splash of Cab Franc, all aged in wood and from vintages 2016, 2017 and 2018. And we know it’s terrific, balancing fruit and non-fruit flavors of barrel, age, and vine perfectly with a touch of creaminess to the texture a satisfyingly firm, fine, grip on the finish. A great Bordeaux to enjoy tonight with richer foods like lamb, stews, cassoulet, etc.
For You If: You’re after Bordeaux that’s fully ready to drink but still shows plenty of youthful fruit; you enjoy the woodsy/forest floor notes of maturing red wine; you’re up for a bit of a mystery.
Not For You If: You really prefer the more fruit-driven California Cab style; you’re all about vintage; you’re looking for a solo sipper – this wants a bite of food.
