Lower ABV A crazy good value in Cru Beaujolais, serving up all of Morgon's velvety texture and amplitude at a good Beaujolais Villages price point. It's from 70 year-old vines, harvested by hand, fermented in the traditional fashion, and aged on large, old, oak casks. Avoiding the heaviness/thickness found in many recent Bojo vintages, this is fresh and energetic with loads of tangy currant and spice aromas and flavors and a captivating hint of dark floral accent weaving in and out. The kind of wine to start drinking while dinner is cooking and then open another bottle of to enjoy with your meal.
For You If: You love Beaujolais in general and Morgon specifically - this is classic; you're after a wine with plenty of succulent fruit that never turns "fruity" and has the spine needed to improve and shine with food.
Not For You If: You're after the firmer tannins of Moulin-a-Vent - although this has nice grip - or the much riper fruit of a New World Pinot Noir - this has a lovely tang of early season berries.
