Organic/Bio A stunning, bone dry, Riesling from the lower slopes of the Grand Cru Schlossberg honoring current owner Catherine Faller’s mother. Like Colette herself (at least the day I met her), this wine is both vigorous and powerful and deeply steeped in Alsace and Weinbach terroir and history. In her 80s, Colette was wiry, compact, and moved 100 mph all day long. This wine is like that on your palate. It will cellar for 20+ years but why wait?
For You If: You love the power, density and drive of great Alsace Riesling but don’t want the residual sugar that creeps in at higher ripeness levels; you’re after a wine you can pair with food from sausages to creamy seafood or just sit and contemplate all by itself.
Not For You If: I’m genuinely stumped. If the price isn’t a barrier, this wine is for you. If you buy a bottle based on this recommendation and don’t love it, tell me (Doug) and I’ll give your money back. There aren't even six wines on the web site with this promise at any one time. I mean it.
