Charming bistro Pinot Noir with dark raspberry and mulberry fruit, a touch of earth and a gentle tannic grip to make your mouth water and get you ready for the next sip. Like Sancerre just a few miles to the south, the Coteaux du Giennois was mostly red wine country before the killing frost of 1954 and rise of later-budding Sauvignon Blanc. Warming growing seasons gives Pinot with a touch more friendly ripeness but no loss of French savoir faire.
For You If: You’re looking for something to enjoy with sausages, cheese, or anything else with a salty/fatty profile – this complements the flavors and makes your mouth ready for another bite!
Not For You If: You’re looking for New World Pinot levels of fruit – the berry character is nice and ripe, but there’s a savory streak here too.
