Lower ABV Christian Hermann had four 100 point 2023 Rieslings in Wine Advocate and puts that same level of attention into this, his ridiculously inexpensive, mind-blowingly good, QBA. As Advocate says in the 93 point review, it’s “very clear, refined and flinty or smoky on the generous and tropical-scented nose. Dense and saline as well as savory on the palate, this is a finely textured, substantial and seriously structured Riesling with enormous quality and expression.” As for the price, “Even doubled would be a bargain since this wine is predominantly sourced from steep top vineyards.” The single best value in classic Mosel Riesling we’ve ever tasted. Zowie.
For You If: You like the idea of drinking $40 Mosel Riesling quality for closer to $20; you’re ok with a little necessary sugar to balance huge acidity and support super delicious ripe fruit flavors.
Not For You If: You’re adamant about having no residual sugar in your wine – although I really wish you’d reconsider just so you can taste the brilliant purity, minerality and zip this thing delivers!
