Tiny production, very high-quality, very delicious Napa Cabernet that won’t break the bank! Memphis native Chet Pinkernell crafts 325 cases of Cabernet from his 5 acre vineyard in Soda Canyon and, especially in 2021, delivers a wine of outstanding richness and freshness. As Wine Advocate says in the 93 point review, “It's on the ripe side of the Cabernet spectrum, with plummy fruit accented by cola and mocha scents from the 85% new French oak (Taransaud and Darnajou). Full-bodied and fleshy, with a plush, velvety feel on the palate, it finishes long and softly dusty. Drink 2024-2035.”
For You If: You want the kind of Napa Cab quality and character you normally have to wait three year on a mailing list for and then can’t afford to actually drink at a price you definitely can afford; you want all the rich, deep, fruit of Napa Cab with enough freshness to enjoy the 2nd and 3rd glasses too.
Not For You If: You’re after either extreme of Napa Cab, whether the super thick Caymus style or something very restrained or elegant – this sits nicely in-between.
