Organic/Bio With a unique combination of freshness and richness, this wine has been one of our top Gruners for years and that's going to continue with the rich yet fresh 2023 edition! The name is a fun play on words – evoking both the French concept of “Grand Cru” quality and the Steininger’s belief that this is a “Grand” Grüner Veltliner! Fruit for this wine comes from the Steininger’s best vineyard and is harvested in very late September or October. The ripe fruit ferments in stainless steel and then goes into large Acacia wood casks for malolactic fermentation and aging.
As always, it serves up the perfect blend of ripeness, richness, zesty acids and dusty minerality for solo sipping and setting up at table with pretty much anything you want to eat. An the extra touch of Granny Smith apple bite at the end makes it super refreshing, too. Rich and spicy enough for Chardonnay fans, but crisp, fresh and vivid enough for anyone who loves the varied whites of Spain, Italy and - of course - Austria!
