Like Terra Alta (south Catalonia) itself, this is a bit wild and untamed but showing sings for learning a bit of polish from its northerly neighbor, Priorat. It’s 100% Garnacha and positively explodes with dark red berry fruit on the nose and palate with a bit of wild flower complexity coming up with air. Plenty of that stone-like character we call “minerality” matched to not-sweet strawberry jam flavors and a gentle tannic squeeze at the end.
For You If: You want a delicious big, bold, wine that doesn’t taste like California or the south of France; you like a wine with a lot of flavor and texture and are ok – even seeking – wildness rather than polish; like us, you just like Grenache.
Not For You If: You really don’t like Grenache (we know you’re out there!); you’re after something smooth, polished and/or expensive tasting; you like your reds light and crisp.
