Tolosa makes world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from California's cool-climate Edna Valley. The Pinots normally sell for $70-$150, fairly priced for the hard work they take, the small production, and the huge amounts of critical press. This is their "calling card" wine from mostly Edna Valley fruit and six months in French oak and steel. It's terrific Pinot, ripe but fresh, rich but minerally, vivid but oh so very satisfying. Bravo!
For You If: You're looking for the sunny/ripe flavors of California Pinot Noir with a dash of cool-climate freshness and noticeable spice.
Not For You If: You're after "heavy" California Pinot or the much lighter/tangier Pinots of the true Sonoma Coast - this is medium-bodied, fresh, and still full of overtly ripe fruit flavors.
