A once rare Piemonte grape makes a comeback! Always a more savory than fruity wine with big texture and zesty acids. Wine Enthusiast captures the magic nicely in their 94 point rave, “Spiced pear mixed with candied lemon rind, wildflowers and fresh honey all swirl in concert in the glass. Each sniff brings out a new element from the wine: fruit, mineral and flower. The palate is full in body with a texture that will make you keep coming back and rue the moment the glass is finished, capped with apricot and a salty minerality.”
For You If: You enjoy whites that are more savory/waxy/herbal where the fruit is an accent vs a star; you’re looking for the perfect match for a beautiful piece of fish done with lemon, herbs, and/or almonds.
Not For You If: You’re looking for something with generous fruit or light and smooth – this is savory, silky, substantial and finishes with bracing acidity.
"Rich and inviting, this Derthona opens with aromas of roasted stone fruit, apricot preserves, and a drizzle of honey, all framed by delicate white and yellow flowers. At first sip the wine envelops the palate with a rich and unctuous feeling, but it's quickly washed away by a wave of freshness. Peach skin and a lemon-lime flavors sparkle on the finish, leaving the mouth watering and craving another sip."
